Startup Runway Calculator

Runway is the number of months your current cash lasts at your current net burn. Enter three numbers below and you'll get your runway, plus what changes if you cut burn. Nothing is stored, nothing is sent anywhere, and no sign-up is required.

Your numbers

Everything you could actually spend today.

$

Total cash leaving the business each month, including payroll.

$

Cash actually collected, not invoiced. Leave blank if you have none — we won't assume a number.

$

We'll solve for the burn required to reach it.

months

Enter your cash and monthly expenses to see your runway.

How this is calculated

Net burn
monthly expenses − monthly revenue collected
Runway
cash ÷ net burn
Scenario runway
cash ÷ (net burn × (1 − cut))
Burn required for a target
cash ÷ target months

What this assumes

  • Burn and revenue stay flat. Real runway moves as soon as either changes — treat the result as a checkpoint, not a forecast.
  • Revenue means cash collected, not invoiced. Unpaid invoices do not pay salaries.
  • A blank revenue field is treated as unknown and excluded, not silently set to zero. Enter 0 if you genuinely have no revenue.
  • Future financing is not included. This is your runway on the money you have now.
  • No taxes, one-off payments, or seasonality are modelled. Add known lumpy costs into your monthly expenses if they fall inside your runway window.
